Regular and predictable work schedule (M-F) with no evenings or weekends.
We are seeking enthusiastic and caring individuals to provide support and guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities so that they may learn the work appropriate skills and habits required to maintain successful employment in their future. Further, to assist other individuals in exploring their non-work interests in the community and to facilitate community connections.
Assists participants in facility and community-based programs. Help in implementing a diverse program of therapeutic group and/or individual activities appropriate to meet the desired vocational, physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of the participants served. Areas included are work opportunities, community integration activities, education, special events and social and problem-solving skill development which will assist them in real life experiences and help them to make choices regarding employment. While facilitating these activities and preparing participants for community involvement assisting in collecting data and implementation of goal orientated programs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Twenty- One years or older -
Minimum of High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
1) Preference may be given to applicants with more experience. Preference may be given for prior experience in the DD field and /or Bachelor’s degree with experience working within a DD service delivery system.
2) Must be able to pass criminal background investigations and various registry and database checks.
3) Must pass DMV check, pass road test, DOT physical and pre-employment drug and alcohol test and random testing throughout employment.
KNOWLEDGE:
1) Knowledge of proper positive behavior support principles and crisis intervention.
2) Must be able to compute and record data for participant documentation
3) Training in CPR, First Aid and Goodwill’s Emergency Procedures.
4) Must be able to clearly and accurately communicate comprehensive information about participant worksite behaviors to staff.
5) Must possess superior judgement skills in order to ensure the health, safety and well-being of adults with developmental disabilities in independent settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Help facilitate planned work/recreational/volunteer programs in facility and the broader community.
- Address programming issues through individualized instruction and behavioral intervention to optimize skill performance and appropriate social interactions of participants.
- Assist in implementing individual programming and provide written and verbal feedback to Staff.
- Assist in pro-active disability management and non-violent crisis intervention as needed.
- Provide cafeteria monitoring during breaks/lunch.
- Assist in getting participants to assigned program locations and ready to participate (i.e. uniform, safety gear, jigs, supplies etc.).
- Ensure the health and safety of the individuals served in a variety of activities and settings both in the community and the facility.
- Supervise and train participants on various tasks, as needed to meet standards of facility and community-based site locations.
- Check attendance for area assigned and monitor movement of individuals.
- Monitor participants before and after scheduled assignments to ensure safety including to transportation.
- Run programs in small group settings both in facility and community-based sites.
- Encourage and facilitate engagement of individuals with their peers, supervisors, community members and assist with problem solving for real life situations.
- Transport individuals in company vehicles.
- Document daily on participant goals based on the plan instructions and production data for payroll.
- Provide physical assistance with participant's personal care needs such as toileting, changing, feeding and related tasks.
- Implement training/classroom activities/curriculum as instructed.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to move around the facility and the community and assist participants to access these environments in a safe manner.
- Must be able to complete paperwork both written and electronic and perform telephone communication.
- Full Time 40-hour work week.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of providing personal assistance to participants.
- Must demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
