Youth Service Specialist

MISSION SERVICES - Batavia, OH - Part Time

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is seeking a dedicated and organized professional to serve in a dual-capacity role supporting youth development and Summer Youth Job Coach. This part-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through both educational and vocational services, with responsibilities divided between the school year and summer months.
Youth Service Specialist (School Year & Summer) 

  • Deliver Pre-Employment Transition Services (PreETS) curriculum to high school students in group and one-on-one settings. 
  • Coordinate with school transition teams and internal staff to ensure effective service delivery. 
  • Develop community-based worksites for experiential learning. 
  • Track and report service data, progress, and recommendations. 
  • Provide job coaching and support during the Summer Youth Work Experience Program. 
  • Communicate professionally with students, families, employers, and staff. 
  • Assist youth in developing soft skills and overcoming employment barriers.

Summer Youth Job Coach 
From June – August, effectively and professionally communicate with individuals, parents/guardians, employers and Goodwill staff. Provide demonstration of task(s) and accurately document assessments, strategies and recommendations. Identify individual strengths and address barriers to employment such as soft skills, hygiene, etc. Assist with completion of job task as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: A bachelor's or associate degree in human services, secondary special education or a related area is preferred, or a high school diploma/GED is required.
Experience:   Nine months of experience working with individuals with disabilities in a vocational or educational setting is preferred. Additionally, six months of providing case management or coordinating communication and services with teams of individuals with disabilities is required.
Knowledge:  Basic knowledge of behavior modification techniques is preferred. Knowledge of professional communication principles. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Coordinates and complete Pre-Employment Transition Youth Services, community work experiences, provided by the Youth Services Department
  • Respond to, communicate with, and update Manager of Youth Services and Summer Youth Coordinator the progress of services. 
  • Communicate with and update the Manager of Youth Services and or Summer Coordinator, regarding scheduling issues and other impacts to service delivery.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with designated team members regarding student participants and services.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and other relevant participant-related documents.
  • Schedules and chairs Staffings for completed Summer Youth Work Experience services.
  • Maintain records on travel expenses, billable hours, and work schedules.
  • Maintain and safeguards records following privacy policies and CARF guidelines.
  • Provide transportation, via agency vehicle roundtrip from home to Summer Youth Work Site(s)
  • Other duties as assigned concerning Youth Services departmental needs.
PERIODICAL DUTIES:
  • Transport student participants, as needed, to staff meetings held at Goodwill, etc.
  • Provides direct service for an average of up to 30 hours per week.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
Temporarily assist other departments with in-house needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Part time 
  • Mon - Fri (8:00 - 4:30) 
  • Evening and weekend availability, if needed
  • Clermont County and surrounding areas
  • Flexible to report to other OVGI Sites for duties as assigned
