As we expand our fee-for-service offerings to better meet the needs of individuals with disabilities, youth, and adults facing barriers to employment, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Specialist to join our team. 

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Billing Specialist ensures accurate and timely documentation and submission of all billable services related to OVGI’s fee-for-service programs. This role works closely with Program Managers, the accounting team, and the Manager of System Integration to verify records, prepare billing submissions, and ensure financial integrity across service lines. 

Responsibilities:
  • Verify service documentation for completeness, accuracy, and billing compliance 

  • Submit billing claims to government funders, county boards, or third-party payers 

  • Track billing cycles and address denials, errors, or outstanding claims 

  • Work collaboratively with Program Managers to correct or complete service records 

  • Partner with Accounting to ensure alignment on billed services and revenue tracking 

  • Maintain detailed records of billing activity and prepare periodic financial reports 

  • Ensure adherence to relevant funding guidelines and contracts 

  • Utilize CaseWorthy, Brittco, and financial software for data entry and reporting 

  • Support responses to financial audits and external reviews 

  • Participate in system and process improvement initiatives 

Qualifications 

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred) 

  • 2+ years of billing experience, preferably in healthcare, human services, or nonprofit sector 

  • Familiarity with Medicaid waiver billing, county board service documentation and OOD documentation 

  • Knowledge of DODD, SODC, and OOD billing practices is strongly preferred 

  • Experience using Sage Intacct or similar financial software is an asset 

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel 

  • Comfortable using case management systems like CaseWorthy or Brittco 

  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and adapt to evolving systems
