Position Summary: (WHAT, HOW, WHY)
Health Services Certified DD Personnel will be responsible for providing medication and treatments to participants with developmental disabilities. Health Services Certified DD Personnel will help to promote safety and quality of life for all individuals participating in Developmental Services programming at Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries. (This is a part-time position)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  18 years age minimum
EDUCATION:
  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  2. Additional certification in medication administration and/or relevant delegated training as required by the state of Ohio, the Ohio Board of Nursing and the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
  3. Willing to pursue certification/additional training related to wellness advocacy in the first year of employment.
EXPERIENCE:
  1. Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  2. Experience in non-profit provider settings highly valued.
  3. Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and applicable registry checks.
  4. Must pass DMV check, pass a road test, obtain/maintain DOT physical and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  5. Valid driver license, insurance and reliable transportation.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced, actively developing work environment.
KNOWLEDGE:
  1. Must be able to understand and effectively communicate the English language in written and verbal format.
  2. Knowledge and training in Ohio State/DDS/department required Behavior Support and Crisis Intervention.
  3. Must be able to properly measure and report metrics related to participant services.
  4. CPR, First AID certification obtained/maintained.
  5. Must be able to participate and understand all of the organizational Emergency Procedures.
  6. Must possess excellent judgement skills and be skilled in protecting the health, safety and well-being of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities participating in integrated employment settings.
  7. Therapeutic communication skills and case management experience is beneficial.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  (INCLUDES PERCENT OF TIME ON TASKS)
  1. Direct Support Professional – 25%
  2. Medication Management and Administration as per Delegated Certifications. – 50%
  3. Documentation and Reporting – 25%
Includes:
  1. Maintain an environment that is healthy, safe, peaceful and comfortable.
  2. Administers medication in accordance with orders and within the guidelines set by the state of Ohio, Ohio Board of Nursing Delegation Nursing Tasks and DDS.
  3. Gains and maintains knowledge of medical and health issues for all assigned program participants.
  4. Notifies appropriate supervisor/delegating nurse of any health concerns or needs for the participants supported according to HIPAA, State of Ohio, federal laws and guidelines.
  5. Follows all agency policy and procedure.
  6. Aids participants with ADL’s.
  7. Incorporates time, space and opportunity for privacy in the care of participants supported.
  8. Maintains strict confidentiality of all personal and medical information concerning participants supported.
  9. Understands and advocates for the rights and respect of participants supported.
  10. Treats participants, families, coworkers and supervisors with dignity, professional behavior and respect.
  11. Develops and facilitates appropriate community connections and relationships.
  12. Networks with coworkers, the community, participants served and other professionals to advocate for services and inclusion across life activities.
  13. Takes initiative in performing additional tasks as assigned.
  14. Provides clear, accurate and timely records and documentation.
  15. Provides positive and appropriate feedback when communicating internally and externally.
  16. Participates in and completes periodic training and certification as required.
  17. Attends and participates in assigned meetings, shares ideas and contributes to discussions openly, respectfully, honestly and professionally.
  18. Reports all instances of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, exploitation, unusual incident and major unusual incident per policy guideline in a timely manner as identified in policy.
  19. Conducts self in the community in a way that enhances the image of participants served and the agency.
  20. Participates in the development and implementation of wellness programs and initiative targeting participant population.
  21. Carries out program activities aimed at improving participants well-being and overall health.
  22. Collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinate and promote wellness activities, workshops, and events.
  23. Creates and keeps precise and orderly records, ensuring prompt input of information into specified reporting systems.
  24. Evaluate metrics and contribute to discussion related to changes supported by metrics toward improving desired outputs and outcomes.
  25. Initial point of contact for health concerns with participant population with support from delegating RN and Employee Health RN.
  26. Collaborate with participant support teams on plans and programming related the health needs of participants.
PERODICAL DUTIES: (INCLUDES PERCENT OF TIME ON TASKS)
  1. Some travel to offsite locations will be required – less than 5%.
